Rainbow Academy's summer day camp provides an exhilarating recreational program for children through 12 years of age!
Our camp for the "little ones" is sprinkled with activities filled with fun! Swimming in a wading pool with a fountain and toys, a playground created just for toddlers, and inside learning centers with the best early childhood education are delightful! The day is mixed with outdoor spirit and indoor respite from the heat.
Young children love to discover and try everything! At Rainbow Academy, activities are "just the right size," allowing 3 – 6-year-olds to explore, participate, and excel in swimming, tennis, sports, music, art, gardening, horseback riding, and fun! Instructors have experience working with children and are filled with encouragement and thoughtful strategies for involving young children and teaching new skills!
The oldest campers at Rainbow Academy enjoy a day scattered with many activities and choices. Sports, swimming, music, art, horseback riding, tennis, woodworking, etc., are all built into scheduled activities with periods when campers can choose. The program is large enough to offer every interest and small enough to form close relationships and camaraderie with staff and other campers. Leadership skills are encouraged, and self-esteem is enhanced. Special Days and Spirit Weeks are led by our older campers and enjoyed by all.
Each week, sponsors special-themed activities. Two weeks of "Spirit Weeks" promote character building and cooperative play as children participate in games and accumulate points for teamwork for kids camp. Older groups participate in a "buddy" program, where they help younger children and children with special needs attending Carousel Farm's Educational Center. Summer at Rainbow Academy is filled with giggles and delight!
What is a CIT?
The Campers in Transition program is exactly what the name suggests – campers who still enjoy the fun and camaraderie of day camp, but are transitioning into becoming independent tweens! Campers who are entering sixth or seventh grade, under the guidance of a camp counselor, will be given the opportunity to follow a camp schedule. The schedule allows for daily swim, sports, team building fun, as well as time to assume a semi-leadership role working with a younger group counselor or specialty counselor at camp. In this way, they are offered opportunities for responsibility and recreation!!!
A CIT is a boy or girl who is ready to accept responsibility of being a positive role model, is motivated to practice and learn group dynamics, and wants to be part of a community. These “transition years” are a tender age for children. Thought has been put into the Campers in Transition Program to allow children to develop leadership qualities and to enjoy being with friends of their age.
How is the camp day programmed?
A schedule of activities will be followed daily, including:
There are opportunities for CITs to volunteer to be a part of various camp special events throughout the summer. It is hoped that all CITs will feel comfortable being a part of the fun of these events – getting involved in the community spirit!
